Daring Spirit: Bernard Charles
Bernard Charles reaches thousands of creatives from around the world by adding more color consciously in their day-to-day lives. It's his purpose on this planet to make 1 million people happier using the power of color. His work has been featured in Soul & Spirit Magazine and he's the dynamic author behind a color card deck called The Color Mage Oracle.
We found our way to Bernard via one of the FB groups we play in, and we're so glad we did. It's so much fun to connect with people who are going all in. Settle in and prepare to be inspired - then check out his website for more.
Daring Spirits: Tell us about a decision that felt really bold.
Bernard: Making the decision to work for myself when I was rejected, overlooked and ignored after I graduated from college. I applied to so many locations and thought I would be a great fit in their companies. However the Universe had bigger plans. Truthfully, I did, too. I chose to become self-employed and see where it takes me.
I don't oppose careers that are 9 to 5 if you genuinely feel useful, super-powered and happy. But I couldn't break the thick ice in 2013. So, I opted for a more creative approach and the weather on my path went from Journalism degree to color reader forecaster. This is what I do now. I help people understand the mood of their world through color therapy. It rocks!
Daring Spirits: Describe a time when things went "wrong" and then the Universe delivered.
Bernard: Hahaha. My life would not be my life if things didn't go wrong. In Summer 2012, I was going to leave the country for the first time and the person who was supposed to take me to the airport ran late. Even though I had done everything I could to avoid being late. I told her a time earlier because something in me felt a little off. (I have this sense and like to call it my intuition because it feels more affirming than resistant like fear would feel like.) She was late picking me up and so I was late, missing my flight.
At this point, I wanted to give up. I called the travel agency and explained what happened. Then everyone around me including my agent on the phone was telling me to get on a new flight. The next available flight wasn't until Monday, so I had to stay put for the weekend and wait. I did get to Scotland (my destination), albeit later than my peers.
What's interesting in how the Universe delivered is what I missed by being late. Most of my peers arrived when it was raining and ended up groggy and sick. When I arrived, it was sunshine all the way - not a cloud in the sky! (That also gives you an idea about how I arrive to places!)
Daring Spirits: Beach or Mountains? Sweet or spicy? Window or aisle?
Bernard: You know what..right now, I'm feeling the beach, and it must be secluded. I love an empty beach when it's just me, the sands, and waves. I find beaches more soulful when there's no distractions. I've lived the majority of my life in Pennsylvania, where we have mountains and even though I appreciate the extra protection, sometimes the energy gets stale in the valley.
Oh, all daring spirits must want both sweet and spicy! I love honey a lot and it's one color in my deck that pops up frequently in my readings that I perform on myself. I need to be sweeter. But the Aries in me wants spicy and hot to match the impulsive passionate wildfire of intensity that is my soul.
Daring Spirits: I love the story about missing a flight and it turning out to be a bright, sunshine-y tale - I could see the colors of the story shift as I read it. Bernard, thanks for popping in and sharing with us, and for letting your true vibration ring!
Color impacts us all on many levels, and Bernard has made a career out of using it, teaching it, and playing with it. You can rub elbows with him at www.thecolormage.com and on his Facebook page.
