Daring Spirit: Nadine Levin of Pipe Dream Cupcakes
Nadine Levin is the founder and CEO of Pipe Dream Cupcakes, a mobile cupcake bakery (what's sweeter than a truck full of delicious cupcakes driving around town?!!). Don't fret if you're not from here, Pipe Dream offers nationwide shipping (cupcakes in a jar are as cute as they are tasty)!
After spending 15 years in the fast-paced world of advertising in Boston, Nadine decided it was time to focus full-time on her true passion: baking. Since 2012, she has delivered on her dream to provide her customers with the highest quality, delicious, all-natural, and stunningly creative cupcakes.
Pipe Dream Cupcakes was awarded the Best of North Shore Award [Boston, MA] for 2014 & 2015. Her cupcake creations have been featured in the Boston Herald, Andover Townsman, North Andover Citizen, Merrimack Valley Magazine, Jewish Journal and North Shore Magazine, Pat Whitley's Restaurant Show and at Massachusetts Innovation Nights.
Whether you want to pick up a cupcake in Andover or North Andover during lunchtime or you are planning a corporate or personal event for 500 attendees, Pipe Dream Cupcakes can make your day a bit sweeter.
Nadine pulled safely to the side of the road to answer our questions. Enjoy!
Daring Spirits: Tell us about a decision that felt really bold.
Nadine: My decision to leave my job in advertising and start my business was a bold decision. I had to take a leap of faith and go for it. After a lot of market research, I decided that it was the right move.
Daring Spirits: Describe a time when things went "wrong" and then the Universe delivered.
Nadine: I started my business and got all of the permits that the town required - a lot of paperwork, as you can imagine! Just when I thought I was ready to roll, the town decided that they wanted to change some of the rules as to where I was able to park.
It took months of meetings, and I sensed that most of the town selectmen were against me. I was finally able to present at the town meeting (our local form of governance). I argued for why I should be able to continue parking where I had been for the previous year. The town voted in my favor, and that definitely felt like the "universe delivered."
Daring Spirits: Beach or Mountains? Sweet or spicy? Window or aisle?
Nadine: Beach....with a book in my hand!
Sweet! (I own a cupcake truck - that has to be the answer!)
Window...I would rather look out the window.
Daring Spirits: Friends, we have to tell you that the site of the Pipe Dream Cupcake truck makes us just as excited as it does our kids. Nadine, thank you for spreading joy and yumminess throughout the area and beyond!
