Daring Spirit: Sarah Jacobs

Sarah Jacobs defines herself as a "Creatrix", which is the feminine aspect of "Creator." She loves creating things - journals, jewelry, crafts, oracle cards, clothing, and connections. Her latest creation is a holistic magazine called "Crystal Connections" and it ain't yo momma's spirituality!

Sarah believes that metaphysics and spirituality can be fresh, fun, funky and spunky. She created the magazine for everyone: for the woman who has heard of Reiki and wants to learn more about energy healing, for the person who has been on the spiritual path for a few years and is ready to open their mind up to new resources, and for the small business owner who wants to help and be a light in the world.

She threw "the rules" out the window a long time ago, and has been happily doing my own thing, ever since! After reading her interview, you may want to try it yourself, as she states, "it's not as bad as you think it is!"

Daring Spirits:  Tell us about a decision that felt really bold.

Sarah: Creating a magazine. WHO DOES THAT?! I'm proud of it. And even if it didn't turn out as good as it did, I'd still be proud that I put myself out there, and tried it. Because that matters, too.

Daring Spirits:  Describe a time when things went "wrong" and then the Universe delivered.

Sarah: Things go "wrong" all the time, for me. I like to be in control, but I've gotten really good at noticing when things go "wrong" and I thank the Universe for correcting my course, because I've witnessed a better outcome than I imagined enough times to get too upset.

For example, when I got a divorce about 8 years ago, I decided to leave Chicago and move back to my home town. A couple years after that, I found the metaphysical community here - and it's what changed my life and helped me grow into my gifts. Separating from my life and friends in Chicago was very upsetting, but who knows if I would've become the person I am today, had I stayed there?

The Universe has your back, so don't fight it. Just stay aware, be grateful, be humble, and don't be a jerk. You'll be rewarded with more than you can imagine.

Daring Spirits:  Beach or Mountains?  Sweet or spicy?  Window or aisle?

Sarah: Mountains! I live in North Dakota, so the beach and water is like a liquid version of where I'm from: flat.

Sweet or spicy? BOTH! My personality is a mix of both, I love both flavors, it works well, for me.

Window or aisle? I choose the window, but I inevitably give it up to someone else, because it works out better for them. That's probably because I was a martyr in a past life. Probably a theme, right?

Daring Spirits: Can it be any simpler than this? "Just stay aware, be grateful, be humble, and don't be a jerk." Your momma couldn't have said it any better (also: a whole magazine filled with that kind of light-heartedness about spirituality? Yes, please!)!

Thank you, Sarah, for sharing your insights and passions. We are so glad to spend this time with you and can't wait to see what you're creating.
