Grab the Flow by the Lapels

You know I love a good "yes, and..." So here's the one I'm thinking about today:

You all know that it's possible to have a deeply transformative moment when you're doing something that puts you in the flow. You know the feeling, losing track of time because you're feeling bliss, feeling totally connected, with creative energy freely flowing through every last one of your 60 trillion or so cells. I'm talking about one of those moments where you're utterly, completely, fundamentally changed.

Being in the flow is awesome and it feels really powerful. Remember a time when you experienced it yourself? Yes, we all stumble into it once in a while.

AND feeling the flow is our natural state of being. It's meant to be the rule, not the exception.

That's why I get really eye-roll-y when people tell me they don't have time to meditate, or that they don't think that woo-woo stuff really makes a difference in real life. I'm talking unflattering they're-gonna-get-stuck-back-there eye rolling. It's not pretty, friends.

Yeah, I know. How zen of me. (I never said I was perfect, despite the rumors you may have heard).

Because here's the thing: it's the only thing that makes a difference in real life.

That "flow" that everybody's always talking about getting into like it's a brand-new Tesla that only a few special people have access to, or a mythical place that you fall into by accident, Alice through the looking glass style? That flow is everywhere. It's within every one of us. It's who we are underneath our skin and bones and neurosis. When you're not working in that flow in your everyday life, you're leaving one of the best parts of life standing on the stoop waiting for you. In the rain. Without an umbrella. And it's dark.

Get out there and grab that flow by the lapels, kiss it squarely on the lips, and find out where it wants to take you.

This is especially for you if you're feeling stuck in a rut. The same kinds of efforts will get you the same kinds of results. If you want something new in your life, if you want to truly change things up, you're gonna have to tap in to the flow.

Meditation is one way to do that. When you meditate, you're re-wiring your brain. You can't help but start to see things differently, you can't help but start to change how you go about life...which leads to different results than you were previously getting, naturally.

Want to go with the flow? Start meditating every day.

And notice what happens.
