It's been a doozy of a couple of weeks and I'm not really sure why. I have looked at it (of course) and even that has left me thinking "uh." Nothing too significant has happened, nothing really difficult or life altering has shifted, and yet, it has felt intense. I know I am not alone in experiencing this intensity as people have been commenting to me how intense things have felt to them too.
When things get intense, the tough, the brave, the courageous, laugh.
Laughter changes everything. It takes an okay day and makes it amazing. It turns an awkward moment into a memorable one. And it creates space for the new and next to enter the picture.
That being said, it is sometimes the most evasive thing. When things are feeling intense, challenging, hard, and overwhelming, sometimes the last thing you want to do is laugh. Finding a smile that leads to a laugh can seem down right impossible. And yet, if you can start the smile, find the chuckle, everything changes.
E.E. Cummings said it best "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."
Find your laugh, share it, and watch the intensity melt away.
