Have you ever had the feeling that you are in the exact spot you are supposed to be at the exact right moment? Have you seen something, experienced something, meant someone, because you are in that exact place at that exact moment and the events that follow unfold in a way you could never have predicted?
Really if you think about it that's every day, right?
Every day, where ever you are, where ever you go, that is exactly where you are supposed to be.
Even when you think it isn't.
If you will allow me to share a personal account to illustrate this very thing: my entire family loaded up in the car to head up to a family wedding weekend one Friday morning. During the week preceding the event I kept thinking I needed to get Swedish Fish for the groom (one of his favorite treat candies) as a fun pre- or post-wedding snack. The week had passed and despite three trips to grocery stores, each time I failed to emerge with the Swedish Fish. Back to Friday, we are driving to the wedding about 30 minutes away from our destination when we end up off the road, in a ditch, hitting a tree, airbags deploying, babies crying, and chaos ensuing. We immediately check that everyone is okay - get kids unbuckled and unloaded. A car pulls over and the couple gets out to help just as another car pulls over. Out of the second car jumps a young woman, heading over the Vermont mountain with her mother on this beautiful Friday afternoon. The mother comes around to offer a hug while the daughter runs to me saying "Are you all okay? Wait, I know what you need - hold on a second..." she runs back to the car and pulls something out of the car "you need a bag of Swedish Fish, here, take this!"
At that moment, I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, amid all the questions of why and what just happened, and how, we were all in the 'right' place. We were all exactly where we were supposed to be, for whatever reason.
We don't always know why we are where we are or what we are supposed to be doing where we are, yet we are always exactly where we are supposed to be.
As we do.
